WORKERS* NEW AWARD OPERATION FOR A YEAR [BV TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] WELLINGTON, Thursday The Arbitration Court's decision in the grocery trade has been announced and the award will come into force next Monday for*a period of 12 months. A 48-hour week is allowed for, with wages commencing at 13s 6d for employees under 15 and with annual increase up to £4 5s 6d in the 10th year. Wages for persons commencing later are progressively higher. Thus, a lad commencing at 19 to 20 gets 31s 6d and reaches the maximum in his fifth year. Branch managers or workers iii charge of a shop or branch shop receive £5 a week.
