DUKE SELECTS RING [from our own correspondent] By Air Mail LONDON. Sept. B The J)uko of Gloucester, who returned from Catterick Camp to London yesterday to choose an engagement ring for Lady Alice Scott, left London last evening to give it to' her. In the morning ho had' selected a solitaire sapphire from the Kashmir mines, flanked by two diamonds and set in platinum. After His Royal Highness had paid a visit to the Court jewellers, a representative of 'the firm took a number of sapphire rings to Buckingham Palace for tho Duke to make his final choice. The sapphire which he selected is what is known as a "cushion stone," the official description of tho ring being: . . "A fine oval sapphire ring, with a baguette diamond on each side of the sapphire set in platinum."
