BANKRUPTCY CASES
FOUR DISCHARGES GRANTED BOROUGH COUNCIL'S PLEA Four discharges from bankruptcy were granted by Mr. Justico Callan in the Supreme Court yesterday, one of thein being subject to a three months' suspension. When tho application of Alexander Garner Dawson, formerly of Auckland, now of Tokaanu (Mr. Wallace), for discharge came before His Honor, the official assignee, Mr. A. W. Watters, said he had that morning 'received a letter from the town clerk of the Te Aroha Borough Council stating that he had been directed to oppose the application for discharge. The letter did not show any valid reason for the opposition. The official assignee said proved creditors, of whom tho To Aroha Borough Council was ono, would receivo Is in the pound. s ' In granting the discharge, His Honor remarked that if the council got a shilling in tho pound it should be willing to drop tho rest. , The discharge of James Norman Munro, of Whangarei, carrier (Mr. Griffiths), was granted subject to tliree months' suspension. In response to Mr. Griffiths, who asked for immediate discharge, His Honor said the official assignee had reported that tho bankrupt's books had not been properly kept and did not sufficiently disclose his financial position. His Honor was therefore bound to order a suspension. The following were granted their immediate discharges:—Louis Covich, of Ahipara, gumdigger (Mr. G. W. L. Robinson); William Henry Farrimond, of Kaitaia, storekeeper (Mr. G. W. L. Robinson).
