MIDNIGHT MASS
EUCHARISTIC CONGRESS CEREMONIAL IN OHIO (Received September 26, 7.45 p.m.) NEW YORK. Sept. 25 Archbishop Amleto Giovanni Cicognani, Ambassador of the Pope to the United States, conducted pontifical low mass at midnight in the Stadium at Cleveland, Ohio, as part of the seventh National Eucharistic Congress. More than half the congregation of 150,000 people carried lighted candles, which provided the illumination for the vast outdoor cathedral with the exception of a few spot-lights which were played on the glass-enclosed altar.
