NEW PLYMOUTH TRACK

CANDIDATES FOR OTAKI H. DULIEU'S TEAM OF THREE [from our own correspondent] NEW PLYMOUTH, Wednesday The New Plymouth tracks are in very good order after the recent fine weathei and all the work is taking place on tho trial grass and the plough, H. Dulieu will probably make the trip to Otaki with Chief Marionette, Sporting Song and Gold Mission. The acceptance of Chief Marionette was rather a surpriso, as she has not done any fast work, but has been. exercised on the beach. The . other two came through their racing at Wanganui in good style, but have n°t been asked to do anything serious since. However; ' have had plenty of racing and should strip well. I{. Johnson had Dayistock, Glenvane and Aussie Ra engaged, but they were not accepted for and have no immediate engagements. They are all in good trim and Johnson should not experience much trouble in placing them where they will be able to pay their way. In spite of his failures at New Plymouth last month, Red Fox continues to get through his tasks in an attractive manner and yesterday decisively beat Chikara over live furlongs in the smart time of 1.3 2-5. Ho finished full of running and looked as though lie could havo improved on tho time. Lady Kyra and Bonny Glow occupied 1.4 for tho same distance. The former was not bustled, whilo Bonny Glow was having her first real gallop since her letup. Sho is a handsome filly. Courtcga, having her first sprint since being recommissioned, ran three furlongs with Ngatirahiri in 395. Although shaded by her companion at the finish, Courtega shaped well. She is a fine big powerful mare, but is difficult to train, requiring a strong boy to ride her in her pace work. Ngatirahiri has built up nicely since racing at tho hunt meeting and bears a healthy appearance. This was his first gallop for a month and ho carried out his task in workmanlike fashion. NOTES FROM TE AROIIA MAZIR IN GOOD ORDER [from our own "correspondent] TE AROIIA, Thursday Several horses engaged at Paeroa on Saturday were exercised at Te Aroha this morning, when boisterous weather prevailed and the track was heavy. Mazir was four lengths in front of Mungatoon at the end of five furlongs in 1.4 2-5. Mazir has been working consistently and is very fit. Gay Egypt and Lagoon were not extended over five furlongs in 1.8 4-5. Fei-Mah and Madelon were sent out from the barrier at tho six furlongs peg, running the first two furlongs in 29s and then easing up over the remainder of tho journey. Ellnnui galloped four furlongs in 52 4-ss, and Desert Star ran six furlongs, the last four in 60 4-ss. Keith Tiii galloped pleasingly, but was not out for time. Gay Rose did a couple of rounds at her usual leisurely pace. Royal Secret and King Brierly were on the track, but did not work. It is possible that neither will start on Saturday.
