The statement is balanced at £25,149,917 or £03913 more than at tlio close of the previous week. The liabilities show considerable movement. The note issue has increased by £133,480, compared with tho level a week before. The deposits of tho State have fallen b.v £515,529, while, reflecting this movement, there lias been an increase of £582,806 in tho deposits of the.trading banks. After its very substantial increase the week before, the item "other demand liabilities" shows a decrease of £194,158. There is very little change in the level of tho assets. About 9325 bales of Australian and New Zealand wore sold. There was strong general competition, and prices showed a hardening tendency.
