SHORTAGE OF FEED
WINDS AFFECT GROWTH CONDITIONS IN WAIKATO [FROM OUR OWN COKRESPONDENT] HAMILTON, Wednesday Although there has been no rain in the Waikato during the last week, tho strong and cold north-easterly winds have made conditions very unpleasant. There has been an improvement in tho growth o? pasture in the Waikato since tho rain fell last week, but the development has not been as rapid as many farmers could wish. Feed is still in short supply and warm weather is needed before a marked improvement can bo looked for.
Evidence of the dearth of food last month is provided in the fact that although there was a heavy increase in the payment per pound butter-fat for cream supplied compared with the pay-out for tho corresponding period last year, there was little difference in tho aggregate amount received by many Waikato farmers.
