AKAKANA CLUB'S SEASON SOUND FINANCIAL POSITION The season just ended vas the most successful in the 41 years of the club's existence, - sta ted the report presented at the annual meeting of the Akarana Yitcht Club last night. The president, Mr. L. A. Heard, presided over a large attendance of members, including a number of ladies. The prospects for the coming season, the report continued, were brighter than those for the paßt year, judging by the large number of new boats now being built. During tha year the club had had the privilege of extending a, welcome to the crews of the visiting overseas yachts Bissy Girl, Seafarer and Te Rapunga. The use of Judge's Bay ag a hauling-out area had again been obtained from the City Council. At the instigation of the club a move had been made by the Auckland Yacht and Motor-Boat Association to induce the Marine Department to place a light, which was badly needed, on Falso Head, Great Barrier Island.

Eight days were devoted to racing, all evonts being closely contested. The outstanding event of the year was the part played by the Navy in local yachting. and in this respect the club waß indebted to Lieutenant-Commander J. T. Lean, R.N., for his efforts in furthering the interests of the sport. The seeond race for transtasman Cup wis sailed during the season and the thanks of the club w«re due to tha special committee whose efforts assured the success of the event. The races round TVsiiheke and Howick proved very popular, and should be continued in future years. Negotiations were in progress between certain Auckland clubs and the Southern Yachtinjr Association for the establishment of inter-provincial racing on a satisfactory baiiis. During the year the club received from Mr. T. O. M. Sopwith an autographed photograph of his yacht Endeavour, which was much appreciated.

The balance-sheet showed that tho club wai in & sound financial position. The receipts totalled £361 and the expenditure £260, leaving a credit balance of £96 on the year's working. The receipts included £55 from subscriptions, £42 from entrance feeis, £451 from donations, £175 from locker fees, anil £37 from socials. The principal items of expenditure were £lO4 for racing expenses, £2lO for debentures redeemed, and £23 for rent, rates and insurance. The election of officers resulted as follows:—Patron, Captain H.
