PHOTOGRAPHS FOR KING

AUCKLANDER'S WORK » Two studies by Mr. H. J. Schmidt, of Auckland, are included in a portfolio of photographs from many countries presented by the Western International Photographic Salon to King George on the occasion of his Silver Jubilee. Other countries represented are England, the United States, Belgium, Italy, Wales, Ireland, China, India, South Africa, Norway, Sweden and Denmark. In response, to an invitation, Mr. Schmidt submitted two photographs, "Heart of Oik," a symbolic picture representing the Navy, and "Te Rangatira," a study of a grand-daughter of Tamati Waka Nene. Both were accepted for inclusion in the portfolio, and a reproduction of "Heart of Oak" was used for the frontispiece of the souvenir catalogue. There are 79 photographs in the collection. Mr. Schmidt has received information this year that ho has been successful at International Salons of Photography at Tokio, Leicestershire, Birmingham and Barry, Wales.
