QUALIFYING ROUNDS MATCHES IN THREE GRADES POOR SCORES RETURNED [from our own correspondent! HAMILTON, Sunday The second qualifying round for the three grades of championships was placed at St. Andrews yesterday by members of the Hamilton Golf Club. Conditions were ideal but the scoring on the part of the senior players in particular was poor. POKURU CLUB'S CLOSING The closing of tho Pokuru Golf Club's season was held on the links on Saturday in ideal weather conditions, over 40 members taking part in a mixed foursomes competition. Mrs. S. Alexander and J. Jeffries handed in the best card, and annexed the club captain's trophy. • At the conclusion of play, members adjourned to the clubhouse for afternoon tea. after which the president, Mr H. Fear, expressed tho club's thanks to Mr Alexander for placing his property at the club s disposal, an action that was very greatly appreciated by every member of the club. Congratulating winners of the numerous cups and trophies, the president paid a tribute to the generosity of business firms and others for the donation of cups and trophies, which had resulted in very keen competitions He hoped that those who had been successful, nnd the runners-up. would be competing for honours again next season.
