PONSONBY'S GOOD WIN The game-between Mount Albert and Ponsoj|t>y for the Phelan Shield was evenly cdßlested and after being down for most of the game Ponsonby finished in good style and won well juat before time.'Mount Albert had the better of the first half. Its backs did most of the attacking and Carter showed a lot of pace to finish two nice movements. Late in the second half the Ponsonby backs dominated the game and played surprisingly good football. Play was exciting throughout the second half. Ponsonby deserved its win, although there was not a great deal between the teams.

For the winners, W. Stockley, Deason and Holland were prominent among the backs. Davis and Jones were the pick of the forwards. For Mount Albert, Morrissey. fullback, and Carter, on the wing, played good games. Gunning and Spiro played well among the forwards. For Ponsonby, Johnson scored two tries and Halloran one try. Jones converted one try. For Mount Albert, Carter scored two. tries, and Morrissey converted one. Mr. P. Rogers was referee.

THIRD GRADE FINAL

A splendid display of the code was witnessed on No. 2 -ground at Carlaw Park when Ponsonby defeated Otahuhu by Ifi points to 10, in the third grade knock-out final. Otahuhu had the game well in hand until ten minutes before time. Ponsonby scored two tries in quick succession, and converted one. All these points were registered by Nicholls.
