APPROACHES TO BRIDGES
WARNINGS FOR MOTORISTS [by telegraph—own correspondent! TE KUITI. Sunday A suggestion that a light should be placed on the Wnircre Bridge, tho scene of a recent fatality, was made in a remit by the Tangitu Association to the executive of the Amalgamated King Country Settlers' Associations, on Friduv.
A general discussion took place on tho dangerous approaches to bridges in manv parts of the district, the chairman. Mr. C. E. Middleton, making special mention of the road bridge over the Ongarue and the bridge at Okaliukura, where there had been several accidents. The opinion was expressed that it would be impossible to place lights on these bridges, but that white-painted posts defining the approaches to the bridges would be equally efficacious, or even limestone blocks on each side of the road. The posts had been most effective in the Taronaki and Wellington districts, and involved very little expense. It was decided to write to the Automobile Association and the Highways Board on the matter.
