Sept. 12 In the amateur golf championship at Cleveland, Ohio, to-day, Lawson Little reached the semi-finals by defeating William MeCullogh, 5 and 3, and George Voight, 4 and 3. Others who entered the semifinals with double victories were Goodman, Walter Emery and Joseph Lynch.
CANBERRA TOURNEY FOURSOME CHAMPIONSHIP BRITISH WOMEN'S SUCCESS (Received September 13, 10.55 p.m.) SYDNEY, Sept. 13 Tho British women golfers led the field in the foursome championship of the Federal capital territory at Canberra in spite of heavy going and inclement weather. Miss Wade and Miss Anderson finished with 79 and Mrs. Walker and Miss Barton with 80. The visitors arrived in Sydney this evening. They will spend the week-end in the Blue Mountains.
GAME IN ENGLAND NEWS OF WORLD TOURNEY THE TWO FINALISTS LONDON, Sept. 12 Two of the British Ryder Cup golf players :tor America, Padgham and Alliss, will fight out the final of the News of the World tournament on Friday. Padgibani in the semi-final defeated B. Whitcombe, 4 and 3. Allis beat Burton, 1 up, after beating Perry (open champion), 4 and 3, in the fourth round, owing to better putting. Padgham also eliminated C. Whitcombe in the second round at the nineteenth, after a terrific duel.
