INTOXICATED IN TRUCK
OFFENCE BY CARRIER A carrier, .Tens Bjorvik. aged 51, wfts charged in the Police Court yesterday with being drunk in charge of a motortruck on Monday. Accused at first pleaded not guilty, but later altered his plea to guilty. Sub-Inspector Fox said accused had been seen under the'influence of liquor in Broadway, Newmarket, bv a constable. He later went into Station Street, and got into the truck, which had commenced to move forward when he was arrested by the constable. Accused was seen an hour later by a doctor, who certified he was in a state of intoxication and not in a fit condition to be in charge of a vehicle. He was not very drunk, and had not been before the' Court_ previously. Accused was fined £5 and costs, the magistrate. Mr. F. K. Hunt, saying his driving licence would not be cancelled if he would take out a pro hibition order.
