DOUBLE DAMAGES CLAIM r ! JUDGMENT AGAINST BAKER r [from OtTE own correspondent] HAMILTON, Tuesday Two claims for damages arising out far a collision between a car and a van were heard together by Mr. S. L. Paterson, S.M-, in the Hamilton Magistrate's Court to-day. The plaintiffs .were Thomas Edmonds Roach, pig marketing inspector, of Hamilton, the driver of the car, who claimed £23 for personal damages, and Thomas Jenkin Roach, farmer, of Matangi, the owner of the vehicle, who claimed £33 for repairs; the defendant was Frank Findlay, baker, o; Hamilton. Mr. King appeared for plaintiffs and Mr. Johnson for defendant. Thomas Edmonds Roach gave evidence that a van owned by defendant ■was being driven along the main highway toward Ohaupo. Witness was following driving a car and was about to pass defendant's vehicle when it turned sharply to the right to enter a gateway. No warning of the turn was given. Witness said he was injured as the result of the collision which occurred and his car was damaged. After hearing further evidence the magistrate gave judgment in favour of T. E. Roach for £lB ancl in favour of T. J. Roach fur £33, with costs.
