BRAKES AND LIGHTS
EXAMINATION OF CARS PERIOD EXTENDED FOR MONTH An extension of the period for the official checking of motor vehicles' brakes and lights to September 30 has been authorised by tho commissioner of transport, Mr. G. C Godfrey. In a circular to local bodies he states that the check, which commenced on August 1, had been interrupted by unfavourable weather, and that consequently only a small proportion of vehicles were tested. It had been suggested that one month was not sufficient for a comprehensive check. In view of the position disclosed, states the commissioner, it had been rlecided to extend the checking period for another month. Tt was anticipated that the extended period would permit of a greater number of vehicles being checked this year, as compared with last year's total The Papntoetoe Town Board has decided to adopt the commissioner's proposal and to co-opera to through its traffic inspector
