SCRAP IRON FOR JAPAN
KAITOKE LEAVES DOMINION [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] WELLINGTON. Monday The cargo steamer Kaitokc, which was sold by the Union Steam Ship Company to Japan to be scrapped, left Gisborne early this evening for Osaka direct. The vessel carries .3000 tons of scrap iron collected in many parts- of the Dominion, completing with 811 tons from Gisborne. The Kaitoke was launched at Middlesbro' in 1918 as the War Palace, and then was renamed the Cape Colony. She was acquired by the Union Company in 1920.
