NORTH AUCKLAND NEWS
BOWLING CLUB DANCE Members of the Kaitaia Bowling Club held their annual ball in the A. and P. Hall, Kaitaia, last Thursday. The interior of the hall was decorated in the club's colours of blue and cold, and the stage was arranged with the club's banners. The modern and old-time dances, under the arrangement of Mr. A. Christensen, met with the full approval of the guests, and an altogether enjoyable evening was spent.
There was a large attendance at the Whareora Hall on Friday evening when a farewell social was tendered to Mr. and Mrs. \Y. Morgan and family on the eve of their departure from the district. Dancing, interspersed with vocal and other items, was enjoyed. Mr. A. Clarke, county riding member, on behalf of the residents, presented Mr. and Mrs. Morgan with an oak chiming clock suitably inscribed. In doing so, he expressed' the sincere regret of the whole community at their guests' departure from the district. Mrs. K. McLennan, on behalf of the Whareora branch of the Women's Institute, also made a presentation to Mrs. Morgan. Mrs. H. Miller and her daughter, of Wellington, who are on a motor tour of the North Island, spent a few days in Whangarei. Mrs. A. R. Benjamin, Apirana Avenue, Whangarei, has returned after spending a short holiday in Auckland. Miss D. Steele, of Wolff Street, Whangarei, has returned after a visit to the Chateau. Miss Eileen Every, who is in charge of the Y.W.C.A. activities in Whangarei, has left for her home in Carterton on a recuperative holiday. On her way south she spent a few days in Auckland. Mrs. X. E. Crimp, of Whangarei, is visiting Auckland: Miss M ilia Gurr has returned to Auckland after a short holiday visit to her home in Whangarei. Miss Clivcna Young, of Rotorua, is the guest of Miss Linda Gurr, Ivamo RoacfJ Whangarei. Miss C. Piper, Kamo Road, Whangarei, is spending a holiday in Wellington. Miss Mary Cole, of the Auckland branch of the Y.W.C.A., is visiting Whangarei to complete arrangements for the visit of Miss Agnes Moncrieff, world fellowship secretary of the Y.W.C.A. movement. Miss A. Higginson, of Hospital Road, Whangarei, has returned after a holidav spent in Wellington. Mrs. James Archer, of Whangarei. has left for Wellington, where she will live with her daughter, Miss Eva Archer. . . , Miss Edwards, headmistress ot the Diocesan Girls' School, Auckland, was the guest of Mrs. R. Johnson at Hadden, Kiripaka Road, during her visit to Whangarei. Mrs. F. A. Farmer, of Manse Street, Whangarei, has returned after a holiday spent in Helensville and Auckland. Miss Koav, Herekino, has returned from a visit to Auckland. . Mrs. D. S. Matthews. Kaitaia, left this week for Auckland. Mrs. H. M. Campbell, Omnhuta. has returned from a visit to Auckland. Mrs. H. Jackson, Kaikohe. has returned from a visit to Auckland. Mrs. F. Gaede and Miss L. Gaede left for Auckland last week.
