WORK AT SHOWGROUNDS
DELAY IN COMPLETING RING QUESTION OF NEXT FIXTURE Owing to tho exceptional spell of wet weather this winter, the formation of the new ring at the Epsom Show Grounds has been considerably delayed, and it is doubtful whether it will be ready for the Agricultural and Pastoral Association's show next February. A contract for tho earth and drainage work for the new rinse, which will bo at tho eastern side of the grounds, nntl about half as largo again as the present ring, was let for £1466 this year. Tho actual formation work is now expected to be finished in about a month, but by tho time tho ground lias consolidated it will probably bo too late for sowing this season. Tho managing secretary of the association, Air. \V. F. O'Donnell, stated yesterday that tho question of postponing tho show next year had not yet been considered. Tho mattor might possibly bo raised at a council meeting on Friday, but no recommendation had been received. Even if the new ring was not completed, it would stilil be possible to hold the show.
