MOUNT EDEN AFFAIRS
TOWN CLERK'S REMOVAL MOVE TO RESCIND DECISION Although a definite date has not yet been decided upon, it is likely that another meeting of residents of Mount Eden will be held to protest against the recent removal by the council of Mr. H. Gribble from his position of town clerk of the borough. At a similar meeting hold on Wednesday a resolution was carried calling upon the council to rescind its resolution reducing the status of Mr. Gribble, or, failing that, that those councillors who voted for the resolution should resign. In addition, Mr. W. J. Gatenby, a member of the council, has given notice to move at the next meeting of the council as follows:—" That the resolution removing the town clerk from his position carried at the last meeting of the council, should be rescinded and declared null and void, for the following reason: that the Mayor allowed the motion to be put without first repoiting to the council the correspondencp and negotiations between himself and the town clerk in the interval between July 16 and August 27, consideration of which might have materially affected the decision of the council, and/or rendered the motion unnecessary.
