YOUNG MAN FINED £5 INCIDENT AT PAPAKURA A sequel to the collision between a large motor-bus and a motor-car 011 the Great South Road near the Papakura Presbyterian Church in the early hours of Sunday morning was the appearance of the driver of the car Stanley Christopher Lee, a young man, of Otahuhn. in the Papakura Police Court yesterday. He pleaded guilty to a charge of being intoxicated in charge of a motor-car. .Mr. T. F. Snell, J.P , was on the Bench.

Constable R. Wilks, who prosecuted, said that when proceeding toward Auckland at about 1 o'clock on Sunday morning, defendant struck a service bus bound for Waiuku. Dr. G. W. Lock stated that Lee was intoxicated to a slight extent only, but was not capable of talcing over the charge of a motor vehicle.

"Defendant is a decent fellow and it was not a bad case," stated the constable. Mr. R. F. W Wood, who appeared for Lee, said he was unfortunate in that the street lights went out just as lie was approaching the corner. Counsel pleaded for the retention of defendant s licence. He would be deprived of his livelihood if the licence were cancelled. He did not drink liquor when on his job. A fine of £5 and costs £1 18s was imposed. Suppression of defendant s name was refused.
