NOTES ON THE RACING FRISCO "LADY'S BRILLIANCE HORSEMANSHIP WINS ELECTRIC [by, telegraph—OWN correspondent! CHRISTCHURCH, Saturday Win Thru, Tyrone Lass, Princess Onyx and Sister Mary were the early leaders in the Improvers' Handicap and with half-a-mile to go the four still held leading positions. Discord, who did not enjoy any luck in the running, was well back. Sister Mary was not troubled in the run home and she had something in reserve to defeat Princess Onyx. In the Belfast Handicap Frisco Lady came away to frin in the easiest manner possible). It was a high-grade performance. Frisco Lady was making only her second appearance in a race, and this marked her second victory—as easy a win as has .been recorded for some time. The time, 3m 28 2-ss, does not give a true indication of the merit of a sterling performance. Gamble A Hot Favourite

Gamble was made a very hot favourite for the Burwood Handicap, but in a race in which he did not enjoy any the best of the running he was beaten by a narrow margin by hernbrook Lass, who was in a handy position throughout. Gamble was forced to cover a lot of ground and, although he finished gamely, the better-driven fernbrook Lass had enough tn reserve. Both Llewellyn's Prido and Gamble should have beaten Fernbrook Lass. , Noble Prince had not made any showinf in his races since joining E. J. Smith's stable, but he was backed with confidence in the Seaview Handicap and won like a coming champion. Always in a handy position he fairly buried the rest for speed in the concluding stages. He is another of the Wrack breed and is a good, hardy pacer. . . . , Lone Derby was m front from the start of the Dash Handicap, and in a hard finish he hold on long enough to defeat Whippet, who, losing some ground at the start, was perhaps unlucky to bo beaten.

A Fighting Finish Sandv N. was made a good favourite for the Spring Handicap, but he had to put up a sterling race and engage in a real fighting finish before he gamed the verdict Flaka.tere made practically all the pace and led into tho straight, where Sandy N. came with a creat rush only to be tackled by Winsome Laddie The latter fully extended, made a great figbt, but bandy N., the more solid trotter, scored a clear-cut victory. Priceless made practically all the running in the Wainoni Handicap, but Recess was never far away. Half-a-mile from homo Graham Direct showed n, great burst of speed and halfway down, the straight was acclaimed the winner. It was a great battle to the finish and tho narrow victory of ltecess was attributable to gameness. Horsemanship counted a good deal in the last race and G. Withers gave the others an example in patience. Always nicely placed, Ayr Lass fought out a hard finish with Supertax and Nelson's Chum. The victory was a narrow one and horsemanship won. Gamble and Frisco Lass will not be acceptors for tho Wellington meeting next Saturday.
