DRAWN GAME AT HAMILTON [from oun OWN correspondent! HAMILTON, Sunday In a representative hockey fixture at' Steele Park yesterday Hamilton drew with King Country, each team securing one goal. It was an even game, but play waa rugged, there being a noticeable absence of team work. King Country scored about ton minutPß from the commencement of the game, a, brisk passing movement inaugurated by the halfbacks resulting in a melee in front of the goal-mouth, .Whyman net-
ting with a good shot. For the remainder of the first spell the visitors had slightly the better of the run of play, showing plenty of daßh at times, but neither team wiis able to finish off its movements successfully. The first half of the second spell saw Hamilton attacking almost continually. The equalising score came when a centring shot by Powdrill passed across the goal-mouth and was collected by Innes. He snapped the ball back to Davies, who scored. After this King Country improved a spell and Hamilton's goalkeeper, Smillie, saved by kicking clear. The game finished with Hamilton attacking. The umpires were Messrs. Bennett and Fabling. A ladies' representative match between Waikuto and King Country resulted in a win for the visitors by two goals to one. Miss D. Grylls scored two goals for King Country, and Miss 13. Glover scored for Wnikato. The following games were played in the Hooper Cup competition for local club teams' —Old Boys, 3, Colls, 1; Kaipaki, 2, Hinemou, 0; Old Technicals, a bye. Fifth Grade.—St. Luke's, 6, Somerville. 2; Auckland Gnmmar A won by default from Auckland Grammar B: Papatoetoe won by default from Mount Eden. LADIES' ASSOCIATION Senior Grade.—Wesley, 1, Technical, 0: Kiwi, A, 3, Mount Eden, 0; Ngaro, 3, fuwi B, 0. Intermediate Grade.—Mount Eden, 4, Wesley, 0; St. David's. 3, Papakura, 0. Junior Grade.—Technical won by default fiom St. David's; Ngaro, 4, Kiwi. 2. r MATCHES IN THE PROVINCE [from herald correspondents] Thames. —A six-a-side ladies' hockey tournament was played and after five rounds Kopuarahi A was successful, defeating UW Girls A in the final by one goal to nil. The men's association also held a six-a-side tournament, played in two sections, Thames being the victors. Kopuarahi A won the first section, while Kerepeehi A tied with Thames for eection B. In the play-off Thames defeated Kerepeehi A 2—l. The final result was: ThaJies, 4; Kopuarahi A. 1. Warkworth.—Two teams from Whangarei visited Warkworth to play Rodney Tho ladies' match resulted :• Rodney, 2; Whangarei, 1. The men's match resulted: Rodney, 4; Whangarei, 1.
