RAGGED EXHIBITION

ST. LUKE'S AND MOUNT EDEN There was little hockey of a bright nature in the cnrly game between St. Luke's and Mount Eden. On the hard field Mount Eden failed badly in combination. It was only on defence that the team displayed the form expected of a senior grade combination. St. Luke's, by passing the ball about freely in the first half, secured four goals, and although no more were registered the game could hardly be described as closely contested. Tho first score came aft or Vipond had drawn the goalkeeper and Grace, following up fast, pushed the ball into tho net. Vipond hit the next goal from a melee in the circle. Mount Eden attempted to force the pace for a time, but St. Luke's had little difficulty in starting a counter-attack, Fenton sending in a sound shot to secure the third goal. Following a corner, just prior to the call of half-time, Vipond netted again to give Si Luke's a lead of four goals. Mount Eden did most of the attacking in the second spell, but F. Clnrk and King had no trouble in checking the majority of the movements. St. Luke's forwards with four goals in hand made few determined attacks ond time was called with Mount Eden forcing tho pace. Messrs, A. Kiddle and T. Mulholland were umpires.
