POINT CHEVALIER DANCE
The ladies' committee of the Point Chevalier Ex-servicemen's Social Club organised a successful children's fancy dross dance in the Hallyburton-John-stone Hall on Monday. Fully 300 children and parents were present. The judges were Miss Hill and the Asquiths, while Mr. Cullen, of Mount Albert, was in charge of floor arrangements. Original representations were a feature of the fancy costumes, among the subjects being the principals in a wheelbarrow derby, a paper parcel, a working bee, a Christmas cake and an Eskimo with dog and sledge. Toys were distributed, refreshments served, and games and dancing enjoyed. The prize-winners were: —Colleen Courtney (Robin Hood); Doris Jenkin (Dolly Varden); Beryl Jenkin (silver jubilee); Lorna Fry (sweetest thing in Point Chevalier); Margaret McCord (working bee); Joyce Sampson (flower girl); Lorna Atkinson (a special ham); Warwick Philpott (Dutch boy); G. Valvoi (Lord Nelson); Alan Chapman (Mephistophles); Barry Fry (chip of the old block); Rodney Nicholl (Eskimo); Roy Sakey; Peter Graham; S. Guedlev (Spanish girl); Blanche Atkinson (Order of the Bath); Brenda Chapman (powder puff); Noeline Jaquiery and Peter Scott (Dnrbv and Joan). The ladies of the committee comprised:—Mesdames Chapman, Jackson, Fairweatlier, Hain, Quedlev, Sampson, Robinson, Mitchell, Berteaut, Windsor, Tredrie and NiVholls.
