FANCY-DRESS BALL The annual meeting of the Whangarei Girl Guides' Association was held in the suppore room of the Whangarei Town Hall last week, the deputy-mayor, Mr. G. H. Morrish, presiding. The provisional commissioner, Mrs. Ctillen, of Hukerenui, and the district commissioner, Mrs. T. J. Evans, of Whangarei, were present. The reports from the committees and club captains of the various companies disclosed a satisfactory condition throughout the district. The financial position in each instance was sound. The provisional commissioner stressed the importance of keeping in constant touch with the girls of 18 years and over who were at one time members of the guide movement. It was hoped that by so doing the great difficulty at present experienced in obtaining suitable guiders would dirmppear. Mrs. Cullen urged upon all those interested in the movement to assist in enrolling further members. The fancy dress ball arranged by the Bay of Islands Agricultural and Pastoral Association at Waimate North was very successful, visitors being present from the surrounding districts.
