MORE MONEY TO SPEND
Sir, —It hag been said truly that one half of the people know little about the other half. "Worker" in your correspondence columns says inter alia: "The Government has set an example by reinstating part of the 10 per cent cut." There was not only one 10 per cent cut but two Cuts. I ask any fairminded person how would he like to be cut about a fifth of his wages. The lower-paid men have had a fearful struggle to make ends meet and many are sadly in debt now. Certain people are advocating a reduction in taxation. I would ask whether the civil servant has not suffered under a most unfair form of taxation? However,' thank goodness, .all classes of the community now agree that there can be no prosperity unless the purchasing power of the worker is restored to the old level. Struggling.
