HOSPITAL AUXILIARY
MOUNT EDEN BRANCH The Mount Eden branch of the Auckland Hospital Auxiliary held its annual meeting on Tuesday afternoon in the council chambers. Mr. Campbell, of the centrul branch, presided. Thq report showed tho continued interest and usefulness of the various committees of the auxiliary. Tho principal work of the Mount Eden bra-jch had been that of providing extra food and help for the sick poor qf tho district, including any needy ex-T.B. patients from the shelters at Epsom. A large quantity of new and second-hand clothing had been distributed from the depot. The members of the hospital visiting committee had paid monthly visits to several wards at tho hospital and had distributed jam, fruit and magazines. Tho report also stated that tho Alexandra Home at Ellerslie had been visited frequently by a number of the members, who had entertained the-patients with items and afternoon tea. During the year the members had arranged various efforts to raise funds for carrying on tho work of the auxiliary. Tho following officers wero elected:— Patron, Mrs. T. McNabj president, Mrs. Devereaux; vice-presidents, Mrs. Potter, Mrs. Hooten, Mrs. Sheldon and Miss Sligo; hon. secretary, Miss N. M. Abbott; hon. assistant secretary, Mrs. Lancaster; hon. treasurer, Mrs. Covrie; hon. auditor, Mr. Sheriff; conveners of committees, Mrs. Dufftis. Mrs. Lange, Mrs. Sheldon, Mrs. Marks, Mrs. Melville, Mrs. Gray and Mrs. Taylor. Members expressed regret that Mrs. Hooten, who had been president for tho last two years, had found it necessary to resign.
