HOLLER MILLS SHIELD PRIMARY SCHOOLS' TOURNEY RESULTS OF YESTERDAY'S PLAY An enthusiastic gathering of friends was present at Eden Park yesterday for the. first day's matches in the Holler Mills Shield tournament, held under the control of the Auckland Primary Schools' Rugby Football Union. Conditions were all in favour of a high standard of play. Auckland East fielded it heavy and fast tenin, which secured an easy victory over Thames, revealing combination of a Rood order. The Lower Waikato team was on the light side, but prevailed over Waipa after an evenly-contested game. Auckland Central showed more dash than its opponents, Hamilton, who were not at their best until the closing stages of the game. Two early triea gave Auckland North an advantage over South Auckland, which, how ever, played with spirit to the final whistle. A mntch between the Matamata and Rotorua teams, which drew byes in their respective sections, resulted in a win for Matarmita by 8 points to 6. Those players who took part in the match against the Maoris will hold a practice ot the Parnell shed at 7.30 o'clock this evening. R. Hasln;rn (Technical Old Boys) and A. Beyer (Otahuhu) have also heen chosen for practice by Mr. J. H. Muir, sole selector to the Auckland Rugby Union. JUNIOR MANAGEMENT BOARD It was decided at last evening's meeting of the junior management board of the Auckland Rugby Union to place on record appreciation of the services rendered to Rugby football by the late Mr. T. Buchanan. Fermission was granted tbe Eden fourth grade A team to travel to Thames next Saturday W. Cook was granted a transfer from Manukau to Ponsonby. It was resolved that matches in the fourth round of tbe junior grade C section fiscd for September 7 and 14 be transposed in order to decide the section winners. Lf necessary, the matcn played on August 17 between the Ponsonby and Manukau third grade teams will be replayed. A resolution was passed that the Southern United Club be advised that it is to be debited with a loss for its match with the College Rifles junior grade team on August 24.
