After going a mile at a 2.30 gait Aeriel Bell dropped out and Spessiva ran up to Silver Watch crossing the top, with Nimbus handy. Both challenged the grey in the run home, but he held them off in effortless style to register 3.42, the last half in 1.12 3-5 Silver Watch made only one slight lapse, caused through getting; into a soft patch, and he finished with courage. Spessiva gave a very good display, running 'the mile and a-quarter in 3.4. the final section in 1.13 2-5. Nimbus, who was not over-exerted after he failed to head Silver Watch, completed his task at a 2.29 rate, the last half in 1.13 4-5. Wee Machine (W. Willetts) ran a mile and a-quarter in 3.2, the last half in 1.12. He relished the easy going. A Great Finish Charteris Bay (G. Cole) and Kewpie's Crest (J. Gee) went away from the mile and a-quarter more smartly than Audo Patch (C. G. Lee), while Kewpie's Guy (W Gee) left nearly three seconds later, and Grey Mist (L. J. Mahoney), in saddle, hopped away ir front of the leading pair at the mile post. Half a mile from home the field was bunched, but in the straight Charteris Bay and Grey Mist lost their positions, and in a great finish Kewpie's Crest just shaded Audo Patch and Kewpie's Guy, who were practically in line, the winner going 3.8 3-5. He hung on very resolutely, clocking 1.13 for the last hall. Kewpie's Guy, who finished with a good dash, ran 3.6, the first section in 1.12 3-5 Audo Patch, after beitij; slow away, trotted in good style over the final circuit, recording 3.8 4-5, the last half in 1.12 4-5. Grey Mist tools 2.33 3-5 for her mile, the last section in 1.14 3-5. Being very robust in condition, she stopped at the end. Mountain Dell (L. Morrison) and Star Pronto (B. Dyer) went away at intervals of a second from the mile and a-quarter, and Haerenga Pai (W, Willetts). in saddle, joined in at the mile. The last-named carried Blandford to the six furlongs in 1.56. Star Pronto then made a forward move, and, passing Worthy Nor along the back, he reached the leaders at the turn, finishing strongly, to win well in 3.6, the last half in 1.10 2-5. He showed fine dash. Blandford was stopping toward tho end, but finished in 3.10. Haerenga Pai ran tho mile in 2.30, the last half in 1.12.

Bingen Sun (G. Webb) and Elissa I (W. T. Dye) were associated over a mile and a-balf. Elissa mado a lapse | early, but, trotting solidly over the last circuit, scored comfortably in 4.12, tho hist half in 1.19 2-5. Bingen Sun's timfl was 4.16. Young Rodney (G. Bod man) and Autumn Lou (G. H. Stubbs) went away from the mile and a-half five seconds ahead of War Girl (J. Holt), I and the first-named led all the way in 4.8 3-5, running the last half in 1.17 3-5. He trotted boldly throughout. Autumn Lou bobbled on the howls, while War Girl, after tangling early, made a forward move crossing the top. Kewpie's Triumph's Task Kewpie's Triumph (K. Bell) conceded Dean Parrish (J. Geo) and Brown Betty (A. Cole) 13 seconds start and beat them over a milo and a-quarter in 3.4, running the last half in 1.12. Brown Betty finished second in 3.18 .'s-5, the last half in 1.13 2-5. Replica (S. M. August) covered a mile and a-quarter in 3.12, not being under pressure in the run homo. .A few horses were worked on the dirt track, which was in good order. Manoeuvre (S. M August) ran the last mile of three laps in 2.18. She showed a tendency to bore out a little on the turns, but displayed speed when sprinted along tho back. Mute (S. M. August) trotted steadily over four circuits, registering 3.36 for the last mile and a-half and 1.10 for the last half Lucky Love (J. Peters), unhoppled, in saddle, worked steadily over a couple of rounds, and then siyinted half a mile in 1.7 He is a good free-legged pacer and appears able to go as fast without the hopples as he does with them. Worthy Noi (P. M. Morrison) gave Lyn Worthy (A. Brvcc) three seconds start over a mile and headed the three-year-old in the last half-furlong to record 2.33 3-5, the last half in 1.10. She trotted well and finished on hotter than she did when worked on the grass later Lvn Worthy took 2.37, the last half in 1.12 1-5. Princess Onyx and Matannga were associated over a mile and a-half in 3.32, the last half-mile in 1.8. Both trotters wont pleasingly. Vesuvius conceded a good start to Explosion and Fern brook Lass in a mile and a-half work-out, but although he made a good effort over the last quarter-mile, could not roach thorn, their time being 3.29 1-5. Guardsman, who is coming to hand nicely, paced a mile and a-quarter in 2.51 2-5, and Zest showed speed in recording 2.47 1-5, her last milo in 2.15. Tyrone Lass strotted a milo in 2.25. and Win Thru, Ohinemutu and Joe Carbine went a mile and a-qunrler in 3.0. Win Thru doing the host. Graham Direct, who is the enrly favourite for tho Metropolitan Handicap on Saturday, paced nicelv over a mile and a-quarter without being sent against the watch.
