RIFT IN RELATIONS DR. SCHACHT AND JEWS PERSECUTION CRITICISED CAMPAIGN CONTINUED By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright (Received August 2fi, 5.25 p.m.) BERLIN. Aug. 25 The Minister of Economics, Dr. Schacht, has defeated the Nazis' censorship by circulating privately ari unexpurgated version of his recent warning speech to the banks and business houses in Germany. Business circles are surprised at the force of his attack on the antiJewish campaign. The leader of this campaign, Herr Julius Streicher, continues his activities. He said at Magdeburg: "If there is a God, then the most glorious German nation will overwhelm its mortal enemy." A cablegram from London on August 21 stated: —The News Chronicle's Berlin correspondent says an open quarrel, which may have far-reaching consequences to the Hitler regime, has broken out between the Nazi extremists, led by Dr. Goebbels, Minister of Propaganda, and Dr. Schacht. Minister of Economics, following Dr. Schacht's speech on Sunday. Dr. Goebbels ordered the speech to he heavily censored before publication, especially the portion in which Dr. Schacht .openly attacked the extremist Nazis, whose violent methods, he said, wore hindering Germany's economic recovery. Dr. Schacht, supported by powerful Conservative industrialists, also by the Conservative element of the Reichswehr, intends to place before Herr Hitler the realities of the situation. He will also make a further attempt to persuade Herr Hitler to call off the anti-Jewish campaign. Tt is reported that Dr. Schacht is ready to resign unless he is assured that Germany's serious economic situation will be secured against disturbance by violent outside elements.
