PRESIDENT HONOURED

The president of the Northcote committee of the Plunket Society, Mrs. A. Campbell, was entertained by the committee last evening at a social gathering in the returned soldiers' cluhroom and was presented with an autograph album containing the signatures of all the members of the committee. Bouquets of beautiful flowers were given to Mrs. Campbell and her mother, Mrs. I. W. Muirhead, by Miss Shirley Lethbridge, daughter of the secretary, Mrs. J. W. Lethbridge. The vice-president, Mrs W. E. Carter, conveyed the goodwill of the committee. The hall was decorated with a profusion of spring flowers, while a brightly-burning log fire created a comfortable, homely atmosphere. A very pleasant evening was spent, a musical competition being supervised by Mrs. E. Harrington Snow, and a word-guessing competition by Mrs. N. •T. Campbell. The programme included songs by Mrs. T. McKnight, Mrs. E. B. Snow and Miss Helen Taylor; elocutionary numbers by Miss Joyce Smith and Miss Shirley Lethbridge; violin solos by Mrs. A. D. Maxwell: and Highland dances by Master Donald Davidson. The accompanists were Mrs. T. Joll and Mrs. E. Barrington Snow.
