EARTH TREMORS
FELT IN THUNDERSTORM INCIDENTS IN VICTORIA Residents of tho Koo-wee-rup and Tooradin districts of Victoria were startled on tho night of August 3 by two earth tremors which occurred with alarming suddenness during a severe thunderstorm. Each tremor lasted for about two minutes and caused the windows of houses to rattle and doors to slam shut. No damage was done. A loud clap of thunder preceded the first tremor, which occurred about 7.15 p.m. "Vivid flashes of lightning lighted up tho area around Wcstornport Bay, and then there was a long, low rumbling after tho thunder clap," said tho postmaster at Tooradin, Mr. Lucas. " There was a peculiar still fooling just before tho tremor, and then windows and doors began to rattle." The second tremor occurred about 18 minutes later, while a fierce wind was whirling pieces of trees and scrub across the plains. It also lasted for about two minutes. Both shocks were felt at Koo-wee-rup. About two years ago residents experienced fairly severe earth tremors of a similar nature.
