BIG SKIPPING EFFORT

MELBOURNE TO SYDNEY JOURNEY OF 580 MILES Clad in running vest and shorts, Tom Morris, professional athlete, club swinger, skipper, " freak " swimmer, and high diver, set off from Melbourne tho other day to skip to Sydney. All he carried was a skipping rope, but following him were three companions on bicycles, carrying a supply of spare skipping ropes, rubber shoes,' and light refreshments. Neither a drizzling rain nor the dubious glances of 300 spectators damped his ardour as he skipped off blithely on the first 20-milo stage of his journey. Mr. Morris hopes to skip the 580 miles in 35 days. He said that when ho reached Sydney one of the first things ho would do would be to dive off tho Sydnoy Harbour Bridgo. He has done that kind of thing before. He has swum 10 miles in the Maribyrnong River with his arms and legs tied, and he once swam a mile with his arms and legs tied pulling a boat filled with six men.
