IMPROVEMENT IN FINANCES [from our own correspondent] PUKEKOHE. Monday The report to bo presented bv the president of the Franklin Agricultural Society, Mr. A. Best, at the annual meeting next week, states that the society has experienced a substantial improvement in its financial position. Ifc is stated that the efforts of the executive are reflected in the profit and loss account, which shows a net profit of £lO6 after writing oil' depreciation, £152, and bad debts,_ £67. Taking the unfavourable weather for the jubilee show into account, when gate receipts dropped by £12.3, the position was very satisfactory. The sports meeting showed a profit of £B7, expenses being curtailed by £lB. Since the closing of the year s accounts £SO had been paid off one of the mortgages, the first reduction since 1920. , .. A report to be presented by the auditor, Mr. A. V. I'ox, states that the economies effected during the past vear have mainly contributed to the production of the profit of £lO6. This compared with a loss of £4 4s for the previous vear and still heavier losses for the immediately preceding years. The {innual show resulted in a loss of £35 and the sports meeting resulted in a profit of £BB. In administration expenses and office expenses a reduction of £BB was recorded.
