UNREGISTERED DOG

AN ANIMAL THAT DIED FINE 1 ' OF 5S IMPOSED [from our own correspondent] HAMILTON. Monday "Do I have to register the dead dogp " asked an elderly defendant in the Police Court to-day, when he was fined os and costs for keeping an unregistered dog. Defendant, Lionel George Morris, questioned the dog registrar, William Tabor, at some length, and was several times asked by the presiding Justices of the Peace to confine his examination to questions. The registrar stated that he called at defendant's residence on several occasions, but did not receive the registration money. Last year the dog was registered in defendant's name. Defendant stated that the dog belonged to his daughter, and tho animal had died before he was iisked to havo it registered. In imposing the fine, Mr. G. Hyde, J.P., said the Bench considered that defendant was the owner of the dog and that it was liable for registration some time prior to its death.
