RACES AT ELLERSLIE

PAKURANGA HUNT CLUB VOGUE FOR TAILORED SUITS Winter conditions prevailed at Ellerslie on Saturday, when the Pakuranga Hunt Club held its annual race meeting. Although the sun appeared at fleeting intervals, there was a cold wind, and racegoers sought the shelter of the stands. Ensembles in tweed, and tailored suits worn with high-necked wool or wool lace jumpers were greatly favoured, while many tailored frocks wero worn under warm coats. Furs, which are so becoming, wore much in evidence, as were high collars on tweed and cloth coats, while some very attractive short fur jackets and full-length fur coats were also seen. Tricorn and Tyrolean hats with jaunty quills, and big tains of felt or velvet were popular, also a few halo hats worn back from the forehead. Among those present were: —The Lady Evelyn Drumniond, who wore a black tailored suit with silver grey fox furs and a black felt hat; Lady Sinclair Lockhart, in hunter's green tweed ensemble with fur collar and a green velour hat with a feather mount; Lady Herdman, spindleberry red frock under a mink coat and a black felt hat; Mrs. Bullock Webster, black sealskin coat and a black velour hat; Mrs. Eric Nolan, mole tweed frock unoer a short mole fur jacket and a Lido blue velour hat; Mrs. D. Bingley, brown plaid cape ensemble and a brown felt hat; Mrs. G. Wooller. geranium tweed suit and a black felt hat; Mrs. Owen Self, navy blue ensemble with musquash furs and a navy hat; Mrs. J. W. Brodie (Wellington), black tailored suit with silver fox furs and a small black hat; Mrs. Howard Glazebrook (Hawke's Bay), brown and white striped jersey frock with a musquash jacket and a brown velour hat; Mrs. Harold Barker (Christchuroh), leaf brown tweed suit and a small brown felt hat; Mrs. B. El. Edkins (Kerikeri), black tailored suit with silver fox furs and a small black felt hat; Mrs. C. Otway (Invercargill), navy ensemble with fur necklet and a navy felt hat; Mrs. John Nevill (Clevedon), fawn tweed suit and felt hat to tone; Mrs. E. H. B. Milsom, black cloth coat with Persian lamb collar and an olive green velour hat; Mrs. J. M. Carpenter, fawn and brown flecked tweed ensemble and a brown velvet swathed beret; Mrs. L. C.
