PROSY BOY'S CUP

FAVOURITES DO WELL SIX PAY DIVIDENDS increase in investments An exciting finish in the cup steeplechase formed a feature of the racing at Ellerslie on Saturday, when the Pakuranga Hunt Club's annual meeting ■was held in fine weather. The favourite Prosy Boy, owned by Mr. C. 10. Twist, of Napier, narrowly defeated Ardmanning and thus maintained his unbeaten record. Investors were well on the mark, first favourites scoring three wins and three seconds and second fancies three win 3 arid one second. Zane Grey and Gay Lap scored surprise wins, the former being fourth favourite in a field of six and the latter fifth favourite in a field ot seven, but the largest dividend was that of llluminagh for 6econd in the Ladies' Bracelet. King Rod lost his rider at the fence near tho mile and Gascille went to tho front along the back from Lanner, Ardmanning, Zane Grey and Parkhurst. Gascille showed the way up ■tie hill tho second time, but ho and Parkhurst fell at the first fence, leav- - ing Zane Grey and Ardmanning togethtr in front, well clear of Lanner. 'Tea Chat led over the first fence from Hawthorn and Ruling King, and passing the stands he was just clear of Ruling Kjng and Hawthorn, with King's Archer, Ganpat and Volition following. Tea Chat and Sir Musk refused at the fence near the seven furlongs post, leaving Ruling King, King's Archer and Ganpat in the lead from Volition and Street Dancer. Passing the half-mile Ruling King and Ganpat were together in front from King's Archer, who was well clear of Street Dancer and Volition. There was little between King's Archer, Ruling King and Ganpat as they entered the straight. King's Archer was first over the last fence to wia by two lengths from Ruling King. Ganpat was 12 lengths away third and Street Dancer was 10 lengths back fourth, followed by Winding Trail and Volition. Hawthorn fell at the five furlongs and Principal Boy at the last fence. The field iett to a fair start and Landlubber soon ran to the front from Red Flame, Air Lassie, La Femine Noire, Gav Defence, Enlightenment, Salesman and Armacourt. Landlubber and Gay Defence were together in front at. the half-mile from Red Flame. Air Lassie, Salesman, La Femine Noire, Lornarre and Armacourt, whp was running up on the outside. Gay Defence led into the straight from Landlubber. FOURTH CUP TROPHY PROSY BOY'S SUCCESSES The gold cup attached to the stake for the Pakuranga Hunt Cup on Saturday was presented by the master of the hounds, Mr. H. Bullock-Webster, to Miss Twist, daughter of Prosy Boy's owner, Mr. C. E Twist. It was a great pleasure to come from Napier and win the cup, Mr. Twist said, in replying Prosy Boy was a great favourite at home and was ridden by his daughter at meets of the Hnwkp's Bay Hunt and also in his work'. He had started only four times, commencing with the bunt point-to-point, and had won a cup on each occasion.
