POISONING SUSPECTED

GIRL IN HOSPITAL FOUND TO BE INTOXICATED Thought by the police, who discovered her lying helpless on the river bnnk, to bo poisoned, an 18-year-old girl was rushed to tho Christchurch Hospital. There doctors found her to be in a state of helpless drunkenness. The girl was charged in the Magistrate's Court before Mr. E. C. Levvey, S.M., with being found in a state of intoxication. Sub-Inspector Mac Lean said that the girl, who did not appear, was supplied with drink by a city business man. He took her home and left her at her front door. The girl wandered away to where she was found by the Mr. Amodeo appeared for the gin and asked for suppression of tho name. The application was granted by the magistrate, who dismissed the charge under tho First Offenders' Probation Act.
