UNHAPPY MARRIAGE
CONDUCT OF A MUSICIAN WIFE SECURES DIVORCE A petition for divorce was brought by Thyra Gwynneth Perrin (Mr. Armstrong) against Desmond I van Perrin before Mr. Justice Fair in the Supremo Court yesterday, the potition being based on desertion. Petitioner said their marriage took place at Christchurch in December, 1929. the marriage her husband told her his parents were living in his house and ho could not get it from them. She learned afterwards that the house was theirs and not his. He was a musician by profession and had been earning £lB a week in Sydney. 1 hoy came to Auckland, and he told her ho had been offered a position nt £8 a week, but he did not go to it. • Continuing, petitioner said that her husband had various jobs, but owing to his drunken habits he could not hold them. They lived in different places in Auckland suburbs, but were compelled to leave because ho would not pay the rent. "He has never at any timo provided me with maintenance or clothes, or money for support," said tho petitioner, "and my mother has supported me. He was a very capable musician and there was plenty of work offering, but ho was too unreliable. Ho. just got what money ho could and used it all for drink." They finally separated in 1931. After petitioner's mother had given evidence, His Honor issued a decree nisi to be made absolute after the expiration of three months.
