GOLF IN ADELAIDE
INTER-STATE MATCHES , OPEN CHAMPION BEATEN F. McMAHON'S SUCCESSES By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright (Received August 20. 7.35 p.m.) ADELAIDE. Aug. 20 The Adelaide golf carnival was continued to-day. In the amateur inter-State match, New South Wales versusi Victoria, at Seaton, New I South Wales won by 6 match to one. In the inter-State professional match South Australia defeated New South Wales by 3 matches to 2. The open champion, W. Bolger, was beaten by F. McMahon (South Australia) one up. This was a magnificent match. In spite of his defeat Bolger did 71 yesterday and 70 to-day, which was three better than par. The South Australian professionals defeated Victoria by 3 matches to 2. McMahon defeated Naismith (Victoria) 4 and 3. South Australia thus won the Vicars Shield. The British women golfers won five singles easily against South Australia yesterday. The visitors also won two foursomes.
