FUTURE EXHIBITION GAMES FINANCIAL ASPECT REVIEWED The president, of the Auckland Lawn Tennis Association, Mr. P. Harrison, reported at last evening's meeting of delegates that negotiations had recently taken place between the major Dominion associations with reference to a proposed alteration of the basis on which profits or losses on future exhibition matches would be 6harod between local associations and the New Zealand Association. It bad long beet felt, said Mr. Harrison, that reform in this direction was overduu, and now, after much correspondence and a, conference between the larger association*, a degree of unanimity had been 6ccured. It was most desirable, however, that full regard should also be paid to the interests of lesser associations, and. therefore, it would be necessary to give Auckland's representatives a free hand to mee't the w.'.shes of other associations in respect of amendments that might be put to the forthcoming meeting of the New Zealand Associi*tion. A report on the Easter hard-court championship was presented by the manager of the tournament. Mr. S. A. Cleal. The report stated that an excellent entry had been received, 150 men and 71 ladies competing. The tournament hud been a most successful one. and the statement of accounts showed a substantial the motion of the president, it was decided to include-junior events in nest year's hard-court championships. and also to allow pupil# of recognised secondary schools to compete in the open events. Mr. Harrison reminded members of the New Zealand Association's decision 'bo abandon the May t.ournament for junior®. He said that in place of this tournament the New Zealand Association had offered to subsidise junior coaching schemes fostered by local associations on * pound for pound basis. The Auckland emergency committee had recommended that £lO be allocated for this purpose, so that with the subsidy a sum of £2O would be available. With this money arrangements hod been made to give free coaching to 12 lending junior plajers Arrangements for the Auckland championships for the forthcoming season, which will be the jubilee year of the Auckland Association. were discussed. It was reported that negotiations weie in train to invite at least two prominent Australian players to coinpete, and it wan confidently hoped that the tournament would be fully repre«onta tive of the best Kev Zealand players It was decided that the president should attend the annua* meeting of the New Zealand Association as Auckland's representative.
