HARRIER CHAMPIONSHIP .V* VALUE OF DOMINION EVENT Opposition was expressed at the monthly meeting of the Auckland Amateur Athletic Centre to the suggestion made by the Hawke's Bay-Poverty Bay Association that it be allotted th<? crosscountry championship for 1936. The meeting is due to be held in Auckland, and it was felt that the new centre should await its turn. The centre was in favour of the scheme that every harnei in New Zealand pay ai separate registration fee- in order that a ; Dominion fund be established to send repre- | eentative teams away at freq;uent intervals. A national appeal sponsored by the C&n- ---; terbury Pionee- Sports Club for a presentation of plate to J E. Lovelock in recognition of his outstanding success in international event- wa< approved and a dona-: tion was made. It i;» proposed that Messrs. S. S. Dean and Somervill®. of the New 2!ealand Rugby Union, who are travelling to Engla d t> atter;-3 the Imperial Conference, take the gift,, which will be presented at a gathering in London.
