PLAYERS TO TOUR FLIT PRACTICE GAME AT REMUERA AUCKLAND TEAM DEFEATED The New Zealand University hockey team, which is leaving for a tour of Fiji by the Niagara to-night, was seen in action against a side from the Auckland University College at the Hcrnuera grounds yesterday afternoon. The game was only a practice one, and New Zealand beat Auckland by 5 goals to 2. It was the first occasion on which the New Zealand representatives had played together and, judging by the way in which they passed the boll about, they should soon develop into a first-class combination. The New Zealand forwards varied their attack well, making Good use cf the wings, and. on the hard grounds which they are likely to encounter in the islands, these tactics should prove most effective. In the first spell the New Zealand Bide definitely ha-d the ascendancy, and was three goals in the lead at half-time. After the interval, however, the Auckland forwards saw more of the ball and hud the better of the exchanges. Hogben played an outstanding game in the backs, 'while N Broun, in the forwards, and Forrest-Brown, in goal, both did well. Dr. Hickey and Mr. H. McQuarrie were umpires.
