SYSTEM IN ENGLAND GREAT RECENT EXTENSION A vast extension of the supply of milk to school children in Britain was recorded in a recent statement by Mr. H. Ramsbotham, Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Education. "Prior to October, 1034,'* he said, "we estimate that 900,000 children were receiving milk under voluntary schemes sponsored by the National Milk Publicity Council. In March last, as a result" of the Government's assistance, and with the help of the Milk Marketing Board, the number of children receiving milk had grown to 2,750,000. "This year we have estimated for a higher expenditure on school meals and the school medical services than ever before. In 1931 the expenditure worked out at 17s 2d per pupil, and it is estimated that this year it will amount to 19s lid." '
