EXHIBITION OF ANTIQUES
WHANG AREI DISPLAY ENDS [fboji ora own ooEitEsyoirDENT] W MANGAREI, Saturday The. antique and curio exhibition held this week by the Whangarei Presbyterian Church concluded last evening. Owing to the large number of counter-attractions which clashed with the exhibition, the total - receipts were not up to expectations, but- over £SO was cleared. Included in the exhibition was the first issue of the New Zealand Herald, published on November 13, 1863, the property of Mr. T. H. Stewart, accountant of the Bank of New Zealand, Whangarei. The issue contained an advertisement inserted by Messrs. Keetley and Davy, solicitors, of Auckland, of the offer to sell freehold building allotments on the Bay of Islands road, in the township of Whangarei. .A further advertisement, of Jones and Comnany, of Brunswick Buildings, Auckland, stated that 20 kegs of Whangarei butter would be sold by auction.
