CAGE BIRD CLUBS
PRIZE-GIVING AND LECTURE There was a good attendance at a prize-giving and lecture of the New Zealand Federation of Cage Bird Clubs held in the Unity Hall on Saturday nieht. The president, Mr. F. W. Taylor, distributed the trophies, special prizes and prize-money. Among the recipients were several fanciers from Hamilton and other distant districts. The lecturer for the evening was Mr. C. Rowland Hutchinson, who had just returned from a trip abroad, during which he had met many of the leading fanciers of Great Britain and France. The speaker took as his subject "Sidelights on the Crystal Palace Bird Show of 1935." He gave many interesting facts concerning this important London fixture. Local breeders, he contended, were not producing birds of such a standard as might be expected. At the conclusion of the lecture a hearty vote of thanks to the speaker waß passed.
