DUNCAN'S GOOD DAY THREE POINT-TO-POINT WINS Tho point-to-point meeting held by tho Rangitikei Hunt Club last week was a triumph for Mr. K. McK Duncan. He won both tho heavy-weight and light-weight steeplechases with Trouble, and also secured tho Members' Steeplechase with Gisborne Jack, He rode Trouble himself in tho heavyweight, and also Gisborne Jack, Trouble being handled in the lightweight race by Mr. Eric Duncan. HISTORY REPEATED ——— r r SIR SIMPER AND PETER PAN In Australia last year a very popular double for the two cups was Sir Simpor and Peter Pan, it being considered that Sir Simper wa3 very favourably handicapped for the Caulfield Cup. At one stage the/quotation against the pair was almost at prohibitive odds, and it is history now how Sir Simper failed at Caulfield, and Peter Pan caused almost as much surprise by winning tho Melbourne Cup, for on the heavy track his chances were assessed as being modorato. There is again a very strong demand for the double this year, and commissioners report that accommodation has been secured for parcels amounting in the aggregate to many thousands of pounds. CLUB WITHOUT A COURSE MARLBOROUGH'S PLIGHT Speaking at tho annual meeting of the Marlborough Racing Club last week, tho president, Mr. E. A. Weld, said that the mortgagees had entered into possession of the Waterlea grounds, and the course had now passed out of tho club's hands. For tho tuturo of the club, thero wore three choices —to go into liquidation (which might bo in the interests of the club ancl tho wiser course to adopt): to abandon two days of its four days' permits, and try to make one good payable meeting during the season; and last, to carry on with four days' racing, hoping for tho best. Ono disastrous meeting would probably definitely compel the club to go into liquidation. VINTAGE'S LAMENESS AN X-RAY EXAMINATION [BY TELEGRAPH —OWN CORRESPONDENT] CHRISTCHURCH, Sunday Vintage has been off the scene for the past week suffering from lameness, and although the troublo was thought to be in one of his front feet treatment of tho limb has had no beneficial effect. It was decided to have the affected leg X-rayed and this was done to-day. The big gelding is being kept in good order by plenty of exercise in his stable paddock and would not require much strenuous work to got him back into racing condition, but until the result of the examination is made known it is not possible to suggest what the future plans for him will b6. PURCHASE OF YEARLING , RELATIVE TO KILTOWYN Mr. A. D. Potter has purchased a yearling colt by Cambria Park from Towyn. The youngster is very closely related to the good performer Kiltowyn, who is by Kilbroney from Towyn. Cambria Park is an unraced horse by Kilbroney from Tact, dam of Tactful and Exactly, who raced with a fair amount of success iu Auckland "some years ago.
