Mrs. J. H. Frater, City Road, has returned irrom a visit to Wellington. Mrs. L. Cooke, King Edward Parade. Devonport, left by the limited express last evening for Oamaru. M iss B. M. Cahill, of Otahuhu, who has been visiting Wellington, returned to Auckland on Saturday. f Mrs. J. Francis, Wellington, who has been visiting Auckland, will leave this morning by car for Waitomo. Mrs. R. T. Chatfield, who has been visiting relatives in Herne Bay, returned to Palmerston North last evening. Misses N. Rensberg, M. Mansur and E. M. Eaton, of California, are among the overseas visitors at the Station Hotel. Mrs. J. R. Laird and Miss Violet Goldwater, Remuera Road, left by the Monterey on a visit to the United States. Mrs. Frank Evans, Sydney, who has been visiting Auckland, will leave this evening for Wellington, where she will join the Rangitiki for London. Guests -sat the Station Hotel include Mrs. C. E. Grace, Rotorua, Mrs. J. FUingham and Mrs. Mason, Pahiatua, Mrs. W. H. Macber, Eastbourne. Mrs. C. Noone. Dunedin. Mrs. A. Wylie, Oamaru, Mrs. A. M. Wade, Sydney, Miss W. Valentine, Wellington. The fortnightly card afternoon of the Ponsonby Croquet Club was held in the Bowling Club pavilion last week. The hostesses were Mrs. C. E. Hardley, Mrs. A. Crowe and Mrs. S. Rowbottom. Prizes for bridge were won by Mrs. E. M. Lucena and Mrs. Kirk and for -500 by Mrs. L. Bourne. A dance to farewell Mr. and Mrs. F. S. K. Broad and family, arranged by a number of settlers of Mangatoi, was held in the Mangatoi School recently. Competitions were won by Mr. O'Reilly and the Misses Avis Broad and Marjory Day. Mr. and Mrs. Broad are leaving to make their residence in upper Te Matai. A social afternoon was given last week bv Mrs. J. Buchanan, of Clifton Road, Takapuna, for members of the St. George's Women's Society. Mrs. Buchanan was assisted by her daughter. Mrs. R. Fvfe, and her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Leslie Buchanan. Musical items were provided by Mrs. J. Howie and Mrs. J. Buchanan. Mrs. J. Matthews won the competition.
