Hazlett in Australia, who has been on a holiday visit to Southland, leaves for Melbourne by the Waitaki from Bluff to-morrow. He will take with him six horses for Mr. Hazlett's string. CHARITY TROTTING MEETING DATE FIXED FOR AUGUST 31 The special trotting meeting in support of the Racing and Trotting Queen in the Christchurch Queon Carnival will be hold at Addington on Saturday, August 31. This date was agreed upon at a meetings last Thursday of tho committee interested in tho candidature of tho queen, including representatives of the Canterbury Jockey Club, Metropolitan Trotting Club, New Brighton Trotting Club and Canterbury Owners and Breeders' Association. GOOD MELBOURNE PACER TO COMPETE IN DOMINION The Melbourne pacer Moreica is to come to JS T ow Zealand .to compete in important events during tho coming season. This announcement was made by tho owner, Mr. H. Lidgett, aftor the horso had won tho Richmond Handicap, two miles, at Ascot last Monday, starting from 108 yds behind and winning by 10yds in 4.37. Moreica is an aged gelding by Mavista—Marguerite, and he has proved himself definitely superior to any runner ho has met in Melbourne over two miles. This was his 12th win since ho was registered in 1931. Mr. Lidgett has tho New Zealand Trotting Cup in view. Ho is uncertain whether tho horse will bo assessed at an eligible mark, but in any case hopes to qualify by competing in suitable- races before the Cup comes up for decision.
